South West Aviation Pty Ltd was established in 1980 by Terry and Deidre McKenzie after they moved back home after living and working in South East Asia. Terry was employed by the South East Asian Distributor as the Bell Helicopter and Cessna Aircraft technical representative.
The company is based in Cootamundra N.S.W which is situated half way between Sydney and Melbourne on the main train line. The airport itself is located only walking distance from the main street.
Cootamundra was the home of Butler Airways and Masling airlines and has had a link with aviation since the nineteen thirties where it was the final destination of the England to Australia mail route.
South West Aviation has grown to one of the largest country based general aviation maintenance organizations in Australia. We have an extensive supply of new and serviceable spare parts for many fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Licensed aircraft engineers and apprentices are employed to ensure continuation of experience within the engineering staff.
South West Aviation also owns a fixed wing aircraft which can be deployed with a Licensed engineer to handle any aircraft servicing in the field.
We consider ourselves to be a One-Stop-Shop with complete maintenance needs under one roof with fixed wing and rotary wing servicing, engine overhaul, component overhaul, NDT inspections, Aircraft Painting(In a climate controlled shop) and much more.
